If you are a domestic investor, then no. You can use your existing bank account to open a trading/demat account with us.
However, if you are an NRI, then you need to have a Portfolio Investment Scheme (PIS) account. If you don’t have one, then Composite Investments will open one for you at HDFC Bank.
If you do an online transfer, send a screen-shot of the transaction confirmation page to funds@stockviz.biz and the funds are made available to you immediately.
For the funds to reflect in your overnight statements, it typically takes three business days.
To bring your existing holdings over to your new account, you will need to execute what is called an “Off Market Transfer.” This will be initiated by you, with your old broker.
Once you submit the request for transfer to your old broker, it typically takes about two weeks before your positions are reflected in your new account.

Investing is more than just buy low, sell high. Its buy low, sell high, pay the broker, the exchange and then the government. Although these fees are lumped under “transaction charges”, the biggest chunk of it goes to the broker as commissions.

For our non-brokerage accounts, we have reintroduced the ability to reset portfolios and start from scratch.
Note: once you reset your portfolio, there is no going back!
