Alan Turing is considered the father of modern computers and artificial intelligence. He was the first to give a formalization of the concepts of “algorithm” and “computation” with the Turing machine. He also developed the “Turing Test”: a test of a machine’s ability to exhibit intelligent behavior, equivalent to or indistinguishable from, that of an actual human.
He said: “I propose to consider the question, ‘Can machines think?’ Are there imaginable digital computers which would do well in the imitation game?”
